Rocks – Limestone
I am in class 2 now, we had a rock project from our school to do, I went with my mumma and daddy to many places to search various kind of rocks. We had to make a rock plate of 7 rocks and a chart with a Monument made up of one rock which I had chosen in my Rock Plate Project. I took 7 rocks and Dilwara Temple for chart and project presentation. I had visited Dilwara Temple with my mumma, nani ji and nana ji last year in summer vacation. I enjoyed a lot there, that was an awesome visit. The 7 rocks I took were:

Limestone
- Limestone is a sedimentary rock.
- It is composed of Calcium carbonate.
- Limestone is an important stone for architecture.
- Limestone is a key ingredient of cement, and concrete.
- Limestone is very reactive to acids.
1) Where it is found?
- Limestone is found throughout the world in rocks which were deposited in shallow, warm, marine water, oceans and sea.
2) What it is used for?
- Limestone is very commonly used in architecture.
- Cement
- It is added to paper, plastics, paint, tiles, and other materials as both white pigment and filler.
- It is used Toothpaste.
- Added to bread and cereals as a source of calcium
3) What does it look like?
- Limestone is commonly light colored; usually it is tan or gray.
- Limestone is found in every color.
- The color of limestone varies due to impurities such as sand, clay, iron oxides and hydroxides, and organic materials.
4) World Famous Monuments
- The Great Pyramid of Giza.- the structure is made entirely from limestone.
- Courthouse in Manhattan, Kansas
